This part of the country is also popular for its picturesque gardens, where many lovers used to meet throughout the centuries. Here are four of our favourites:
Plas Newydd on the Isle of Anglesey
The amazing estate Plas Newydd originated in the 14th century, but its first inhabitants can be traced as far as the 15th century and its owners were the Griffiths family. Besides being widely recognized for its astonishing architecture and history, the Plas Newydd is also known for its amazingly beautiful garden – home not only to wide variety of beautiful flowers, but also to one of the most breathtaking views on banks of the Menai Strait river.
The Great Orme, Llandudno
One mile wide and 2 miles long, the Great Orme rises more than 200 meters from the sea offering spectacular view over the Colwyn Bay. This beautiful valley is managed as National Local Nature Park. If you ever travel to North Wales – don’t miss an opportunity to explore local nature and wild life or relax in one of the lovely gardens surrounding the Great Orme.
Bodelwyddan Castle, Denbighshire
Huge castles are usually the first thing we imagine when we think about going to Wales and the North is popular not only with its nature, but also with the number castles available to tourists. Spreading on more than 250 acres, the Bodelwyddan Castle is not only an architecture jewel of its time, but also home of one of the largest gardens in the area. It allows visitors to enjoy walking through a maze and also see many exotic flowers, most of which introduced by Sir John Hay Williams – the owner of the estate in the 19th century.
Plas Brondanw, Gwynedd
For all of those, who really enjoy mountain views the Plas Brondanw offers not only that, offers some of the most beautiful gardens in the entire North. Designed in the 20th century with lots of love and dedication by Clough Williams-Ellis, the Plas Brondanw offers unique experience that can hardly be compared with visiting any other garden in Wales.
